Ambassador School for Cycle Against Suicide

suCalasanctius College is delighted to announce that they have been chosen as an Ambassador School for Cycle Against Suicide. This award is in recognition for its ongoing efforts in raising an increased awareness of the importance of mental health in our school.

Congrats Calasanctius Graduates of 2016

The Debutante ball of the class of 2016, took place last Thursday 22nd September in the Westwood hotel, Galway. As a year group they were exceptional in many ways, academically, musically and athletically. They were also a very close year group with warm endearing personalities. Their presence in the classrooms, and on the corridors, of Calasanctius will be missed but it is with a smile that we watch as they take another step closer to their bright futures. Some of our students are located in the Dublin colleges of Trinity and UCD, some are in UL, a home away from home for Calasanctius graduates over the years, while many more take up residence in our home colleges of NUIG and GMIT with the remainder scattered far and wide among our green isle and further afield. We are proud of them, and their achievements, and would like to take this opportunity wish them well.

As Calasanctius College bids farewell to the Leaving Cert class of 2016, it extends a hearty welcome to our first year group of 2016. In all, we have s 168 students beginning their journey. We look forward to seeing them grow and prosper like the Leaving Cert Class of 2016.

Sound System for Sports Hall

Pictured presenting a very large cheque for €3,000 to the school from left to right are Alma Shaw, Secretary PA, Mags Gallagher, 80’s Disco Event Organiser PA, Córa Ní Loinsigh, Principal, Sylvia Rattigan, Deputy Principal, Fidelma Loughran 80’s Disco Event Organiser PA and Sharon Conacur, Chairperson PA.

We held our 80’s Disco last February, a fun evening for everyone old enough to remember Fab Vinny and Music Television USA. For those too young to remember the 80’s, it was even more fun as they were thoroughly amused at the rest of us (of a certain age) embarrassing ourselves, sorry, reliving our youth, in full 80’s regalia. Some parents are already asking for the date of next year’s Disco so that they can put it in their diaries!

The money raised has been used to purchase a sound system for the Sports Hall in the school. Thanks to everyone for making it such a memorable and highly successful fundraising event!
