8 November Webinar Cyber Safety

The school has organised a webinar on Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety for Parents on 8/11/22 at 7pm.

In today’s technology-rich environment many people would like to be better equipped when it comes to knowing what our teenagers are really experiencing when they use the internet.

As parents there is a fundamental duty of care for our children, and that means becoming more familiar with the things that our teens are experiencing online.
The webinar is being delivered by Jeremy Pagden, the Managing Director of Schools Websites. Jeremy delivers Internet Safety webinars to both parents and students in schools all over the country.

Some of the main topics covered during the parents session are as follows:

· Legislation and the implications around Cyberbullying for you and your child

· Apps to avoid and how Apps can be designed for malicious purposes.

· Gaming and Internet addiction

· The consequences to publishing, posting, sending and uploading inappropriate content

· The dangers of sexting & the legal ramifications of using Social Media inappropriately.

· Technology solutions, tips and advice that can be used to manage our children's online activities.

· The value of 'old fashioned' parenting techniques.

The list above forms part of a discussion on a wider range of topics.

Questions from the participants (parents) are encouraged and are facilitated by the presenter at the end of the webinar.
