Calasanctius College successful in SAP CSR EMEA Grant Application
In the category of developing IT skills Calasanctius College submitted an application for a grant to SAP during the last term. The grant application process is a competitive process run by SAP as part of its commitment to social responsibility and supporting socially focused non-profit-making organisations. The application process requires applicants to demonstrate that they have met strict criteria. The school’s application was focused on enabling students to develop multimedia content creation and editing skills. These skills, the school argued in its application, are vital as they underpin much of the news generated and circulated on social media platforms.
The school is delighted to have been successful in its application as it was granted the top award of €5,000. Speaking after receiving news of the award, Córa Ní Loinsigh, principal, expressed sincere gratitude to SAP on behalf of the school community for its generosity and support. “I’m delighted that the application coordinated by Mr Alan Stack and Ms Niamh Lynagh was successful as the generous grant received from SAP means that we can continue in our commitment to ensuring our students have 21st century digital skills. SAP has a well-deserved reputation as both an employer of choice and a committed and socially responsible company that supports the local area in which it is based and where its employees live. Most especially, we are delighted with the fact that, in addition to the monetary grant, SAP personnel also volunteer to share their expertise and this is invaluable. The extent of SAP’s commitment globally to social responsibility may be seen in the fact that 20,000 SAP employees globally volunteered and engaged in actions outside of work that were directed at achieving positive economic, social and environmental impacts”, Ms Ní Loinsigh said.
