LCVP

What is LCVP?

Students can take the regular Leaving Cert and take LCVP as an extra subject. When students receive their Leaving Cert results, the LCVP grade is included at the end of their subject list.

Students taking LCVP have a unique opportunity to develop their interpersonal, vocational and technological skills. These skills are equally relevant to the needs of those preparing for further education, seeking employment, or planning to start their own business.

What is needed to qualify for LCVP?

To qualify for LCVP, students must take the following:

  • A continental language or a language module – unless exempt
  • Irish – unless exempt
  • A minimum of five Leaving Certificate subjects

LCVP course – (Consists of two link modules called Preparation for the World of Work and Enterprise Education)

Students are advised, when making their optional subject choices, to focus on the subjects that will best serve their interests for the Leaving Certificate and beyond.

The educational value of LCVP arises by completion of the Link Modules over two years of the LCVP. The experience in these modules prepares students for project completion, case study preparation, and portfolio completion. All of these will enhance students’ skills as they progress into further and higher education.
