Calasanctius College strongly promotes student leadership and the student voice. The Student Council is one example of this in our school.
The Student Council is made of representative students from each year group. There are 6 Leaving Cert Students, four 5th year students, two TY students, two 3rd year students, two 2nd year students and two 1st year students. Students are elected in their tutor groups. At Leaving Cert level we also have a Head Boy and a Head girl. There is a great sense of pride for those involved in this council.
The functions of the student’s council include: reviewing policies, addressing student based needs, fundraising, assisting at school events etc. They raise money for items that directly benefit the student body such as: a drinking fountain, shelving, coat hooks, urban garden and so on. They are also involved at sub-committee level in Healthy Eating Week, Mental Health week etc. The council are easily identifiable by their Student Council badge.
