Calasanctius College strongly promotes student leadership and the student voice. The Student Council is one example of this in our school.
The Student Council is made of representative students from each year group. Students are elected by their peers. At Leaving Cert level we also have a Head Boy and a Head girl. There is a great sense of pride for those involved in this council.
The functions of the student’s council include: reviewing policies, addressing student based needs, fundraising, assisting at school events etc. They raise money for items that directly benefit the student body such as a drinking fountain, shelving, coat hooks, urban garden and so on. They are also involved at sub-committee level in Healthy Eating Week, Mental Health week etc. Members of the council are easily identifiable by their Student Council badge.
We would like to congratulate and wish our new student council well for this coming year. We look forward to working with them on initiatives that will benefit the whole school community.
