Our end of year graduation mass took place last evening in Oranmore church. This is always a very special night in the school calendar when staff, students, parents/guardians and families come together to celebrate and commemorate the time shared together in Calasanctius College. The ceremony itself was led by Fr Diarmuid with many of the graduates participating on the night. The theme for this year's mass was 'Memory Lane', which is apt as we take a moment to reflect back on our achievements, experiences and happy memories of the time we spent together. It is also an opportunity to celebrate and wish our students well as they take their leave and begin to write the next chapter of their story. Huge congratulations to all the graduates and their families on this very special occasion.
It must be recognised that such an event would not be possible without alot of organisation and help in the background. Many thanks to the RE department for all their hard work in preparing the students over the past few weeks and co-ordinating such a lovely liturgy. Many thanks also to the Home Economics department for providing the very tasty treats for afterwards and to all the staff members who helped out with hospitality on the night. A final thank you to Fr Diarmuid who, as always, manages to set the tone perfectly and delivered a very touching and heart warming ceremony.
A tradition at Calasanctius College is to present the Student of the Year awards on graduation night. We congratulate this year's recipients Rachel Dolan and Colm Burke, who proved very popular nominees on the night. These awards were voted for by the student body in recognition of the embodiment of school spirit throughout their time in school together.
