Huge congratulations to our U19 Girls' Basketball team who were victorious in the finals of the All Ireland Schools Cup against Mungret College on a score line of 50-49. As the final score suggests it was a very tense affair throughout, keeping the arena on the edge of their seats for most of the game. However, our girls held their nerve, dug deep and drew on every ounce of courage and experience to emerge the winners and lift the cup once again. Both teams are to be applauded for putting on such a fantastic display and in a game so close no one deserved to lose, which is why we must pay special tribute to Mungret College - they have proven what a great team they are and they will no doubt be back again next year.
On the Calasanctius College sideline, our girls were guided and coached by two great stalwarts of the game in Oranmore - Mary Rockall and Richard Burke. They have been managed along the way all year by Ms Eva Butler and Karen Jordan. Sincere thanks and gratitude to all involved for the hours of dedication and commitment they have given to the team to bring to fruition this amazing achievement today. We hope you all savour and enjoy this moment for many days and weeks to come.
Congratulations once again to one and all...Calasanctius Abú!
