The role of school prefect is not limitied to one specific duty. Prefects provide a very valuable layer in the day-to-day smooth running of the the school. Prefects are students who have the respect of the student body as well as the staff and who are entrusted with certain duties and responsibilities. They are selected in a democratic student body vote by their peers. Prefects have many responsibilities within our school:
- to display leadership qualities: confidence, initiative, problem solving skills
- to act as a role model to all learners and members of the wider community
- to promote our school and its ethos
- to work closely with staff and students
- to carry out tasks assigned by the student leadership co-ordinator
- to adhere to school rules and procedures at all times
- to be positive and enthusiastic and to encourage and motivate fellow students
- to be respectful toward teachers, their peers, and the school environment
- to be willing to take on extra responsibility
- to be able to work independently and complete tasks without supervision
- to be a good ambassador for the school
We recently announced our group of student prefects for the school year 2023-24. We would like to congratulate them and wish them well in their endeavours for the year ahead. We look forward very much to working with our new team to continue to make Calasanctius College a place of happiness and success for all students. Many thanks to Ms Donohoe in her role as student leadership co-ordinator for her ongoing work developing students in our school.
