We understand and appreciate that this can be a very confusing and anxious time for young people as they prepare to make the leap from primary school to 'big' school. We know you probably have lots of questions and even some concerns about being part of Calasanctius College, but we will do everything we can to help you navigate the journey as smoothly as possible, step by step.

Once you accept your place with us, one of the first steps on this journey is deciding what subjects you might like to study when you join us in 1^st Yr. All students will have the opportunity to experience the subjects on offer in Calasanctius College when we meet you at our annual Taster Day. Taster Day is open only to those students who have accepted a place with us and received official confirmation of enrolment. It provides a chance for students to again visit our school, but this time during a normal school day. They will sample the school firsthand and get a real 'feel' for what its like to be a student in Calasanctius College. Students will also get to sample some of the subjects firsthand and meet some of the dedicated staff involved in delivering these subjects, as well as some of our enthusiastic students who will act as your guides on the day.

In addition to Taster Day, all incoming students and parents/guardians are invited to attend our annual 1^stYr Subject Choice Information Evening. This is an online presentation which goes through the various subjects in more detail. The subject choice submission process will also be outlined and explained on the night.

Junior Cycle Curriculum

Students in Calasanctius College take nine subjects for state certification at Junior Cycle. In addition, as part of the broad and holistic educational experience we provide students will also engage in a number of other subjects.
