Calasanctius College strongly promotes student leadership and the student voice. We believe student leadership involves treating students as active participants in their educational journey. We value and work hard on nurturing our students to take on key leadership roles which help to build a positive school spirit, solidify a strong sense of belonging and give the students a real voice in shaping and making our school community the best it strives to be.
Student Council
The Student Council is made of two representative students from each year group. Students are elected by their peers every September, when the Council are voted in by a whole school electoral process based on proportional representation. There is a great sense of pride for those involved in this council. The objective of the student council is to voice opinions relevant to students, develop a sense of responsibility and give unity to the student body.
The functions of the student’s council include: reviewing policies, addressing student based needs, fundraising, assisting at school events etc. They raise money for items that directly benefit the student body such as a drinking fountain, shelving, coat hooks, urban garden and so on. They are also involved at sub-committee level in Healthy Eating Week, Mental Health week etc.
We would like to congratulate and wish our new student council well for this coming year. We look forward to working with them on initiatives that will benefit the whole school community.
